Today, I want to introduce you to the convenience of using the mobile PASMO transportation card, which will make getting around Tokyo much easier. Instead of paying with cash every time you take the bus or subway, using a transportation card is more convenient and secure. If you’re an iPhone user, you can use the mobile PASMO to make your travel experience even more seamless.

How to Install Mobile PASMO by iPhone

STEP 1: Install the PASMO App

To use PASMO on your iPhone, you need the PASMO app and the Wallet app.

Please download both of these apps!

Search for “PASMO” in the App Store search bar.

You will see the app appear.

Please download this app.

STEP 2: Run the Mobile PASMO App

Open the PASMO App

Once the PASMO app is downloaded, open it from your home screen.

Tap the Designated Box
After launching the PASMO app, tap the designated box or button that is highlighted or marked in the app.

This will guide you to the next step in the setup process.

Create a New PASMO Card

At the top of the screen, tap “Create New PASMO”.

Choose PASMO Type

You will see two options UP: Anonymous PASMO DOWN: Named PASMO

Since it is acceptable to join as a non-member, I chose the first option, Anonymous PASMO.

Agree to Terms and Conditions
You will be taken to the terms and conditions page. Simply tap the “Agree” button in the upper right corner.

Continue

Tap the “Continue” button.

Select Device for PASMO

This page allows you to select the device to use with PASMO.

I chose iPhone.

Agree

Tap the “동의” (“Agree”) button in the lower right corner.

Loading

Once loading starts and you see the screen similar to the one described

OK

Finally, tap “OK”. Your mobile PASMO installation is complete!

DONE

If you see the screen like this, It’s done.

STEP 3: Set Up Express Transit Card for PASMO

To ensure quick use of your transit card, you need to set up the Express Transit Card:

Open the Settings App

Tap “설정” (“Settings”) on your iPhone.

Navigate to Wallet & Apple Pay

Tap “지갑 및 Apple Pay” (“Wallet & Apple Pay”).

Set Up Express Transit Card

Scroll down and tap “익스프레스 교통 카드” (“Express Transit Card”).

Toggle the switch to enable it (it should turn green).
