Hello!
I’m Tomo from Capsule Hotel Suzumoriya (カプセルホテル鈴森屋)!
This time, we will introduce three recommended vintage shops in Tokyo for people who love clothes. We will introduce famous shops as well as lesser known shops. Please take a look.
Shimokitazawa

Shimokitazawa has the most second-hand clothing stores in Japan, including some famous stores frequented by celebrities.
- Flamingo

This shop is based on the concept of a “vintage shop close to you,” dealing in US vintage clothing from the 1940s to 1980s. Since we are particular about men’s and women’s items and designs rather than vintage items, we handle a wide range of products, including regular and vintage vintage clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, and small items. Since our buyers are based in the United States, products are received quickly and our inventory is always abundant, so we offer reasonable prices for both vintage and small items. Each piece of high-quality US vintage clothing that is appropriate for the current era is selected, and the store is decorated with antique furniture, so there are kitschy American casual style products with a particular attention to detail. Access is about a 2-minute walk from the north exit of Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line and Keio Inokashira Line. Business hours are 12:00-21:00 Monday through Friday, and 11:00-21:00 Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

They offer a wide range of trendy vintage clothing from the 1960s to 1990s, carefully selected by our buyers.
- NEW YORK JOE EXCHANGE

NEW YORK JOE EXCHANGE is a recycle shop that handles a wide range of items, from high-end brands to used clothing. It is a new style that allows you to not only sell your unwanted clothes, shoes, and bags, but also exchange them for items on display in the store. Because they have their own appraisal system, they will buy items that are deemed not priced at the store price at 10 yen/kg. Many of the items in the store are very reasonably priced, and there are a variety of items for both men and women, from vintage items to current brand-name used clothing, so it is a store that is suitable for all types of customers and genres. The store was originally a public bathhouse, and the high ceilings create a wide, open space, and the floor tiles and mirrors on the walls are reminiscent of the public bathhouse, creating a unique interior that is unlike any other store.
Access: About 5 minutes on foot from Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line and Keio Inokashira Line. Business hours: 12:00-20:00. There is also a store in Kichijoji.

This is a recycle shop that handles all genres, from high-end brands to second-hand clothing. In order to be the final recipient of unwanted clothing, shoes, and bags, they purchase them using a unique appraisal system. Even items that are deemed not to have a retail price in the store will be purchased for 10 yen/kg! It is so popular that there are people who wait for the store to open on weekdays.
The secret to its popularity is its trading style and reasonable prices.
- STICK OUT

There is a fashion street in Harajuku that is different from the well-known Takeshita Street in Harajuku. There are many second-hand clothing stores there. It is called URAHARA (the back street of Harajuku) and fashion lovers gather there.

KINJI is a major shop that buys and sells second-hand clothes, with several stores in major cities in Japan. In addition to the Harajuku store, there are seven stores in Osaka and one store in Kyoto.
Overall, there are many items from the 1990s onwards, but there are also some very old rare items and Japanese clothing. It’s fun to look for bargains among the many items.
They also offer a purchase service, and accept clothing items from one piece, not only men’s and women’s, but also children’s clothing, Japanese clothing, suits, and accessories such as bags, shoes, and hats. Branded items will be purchased at a high price, but they will also take non-branded items from one piece.
Access is a 6-minute walk from the Takeshita exit of JR Harajuku Station and a 1-minute walk from Tokyo Metro Meiji-Jingumae Station. Business hours are 11:00-20:00.

This is a fairly well-known second-hand clothing chain that buys and sells current second-hand clothing. The store is really large, bright, and open, giving it the feel of a major fast fashion store.
The moment you enter the store, you’ll be overwhelmed by the number of items. Items are lined up from one end of the large store to the other, with a wide selection of items ranging from clothing to shoes, bags, and accessories. In particular, the clothing items are sold here as items purchased here, so they don’t feel too old-fashioned and there are many that are easy to incorporate into your current outfits. Another nice point is that the items are generally sold at reasonable prices. Brand-name items can be purchased cheaply, even though they are in good condition.
